Still life with tulips

Still life with tulips

Painting done for this weeks DPW challenge. This was painting a still life from Diane Hoeptner's photo. I can get used to painting still life's this way. There's no wilting or changing direction of the flowers towards the light and the fruit doesn't start decaying and attracting fruit flies!

Here's the photo I worked on below. I tried to paint in an immediate and loose way to recreate the look of alla prima, though in reality it took me two days to complete! I also cropped the image to where I thought it would look best on my square panels.
