White Picket Fence Oil on board 6 x 6 inches
Again, using cremnitz white, it's hard to get a smooth white whilst retaining its whiteness but I still love to use it. Maybe because since the EU has tried to ban it's use, being lead based, it makes it all the more desirable and valuable to some of us artists to use it. Carol Marine gave us a good tip in painting fences, to first paint the fence as one solid mass first then cut in the strips of colour between the posts. Obviously I didn't do this and it now looks a bit overworked, I will remember this tip though the next time I try painting a fence. Otherwise I'm fairly happy with how the rest of the painting turned out, particularly the car and the front of the house in shadow.
